qlli Labs
qlli Labs is a doujin circle centered on landscape photography and the records built around it. Under the concept of preserving scenes as they were seen, we aim to leave quiet landscapes in tangible form.
Shooting Approach
We pursue photographs that can be looked at calmly for a long time, though we sometimes shoot subjects beyond landscapes as well. To respect the moment as it was witnessed, we do not use digital compositing. Our work is based on single captures in the field, or techniques such as multiple exposure when they are created at the time of shooting. If we ever use darkroom-style techniques such as compositing, we will explain that clearly for each work.
Publications: Scenery Exploration Series
[FY Series]A yearly record of what was photographed over roughly one year. The landscapes discovered in that season are arranged in dynamic double-page spreads, designed to be appreciated as large images that can live naturally in a space.
[scene Series]A collected edition released every few years. It revisits and re-edits multiple FY volumes, functioning not as a simple compilation but as an archive with additional cuts and shooting notes.
